Canon Reverend Ronald Greenall 1941-2021

Canon Ron sadly passed away on Thursday 2nd September in

Royal Preston Hospital following a short illness.

He was 80 years old.

Canon Ron was a very well known, much loved and respected

member of the clergy, Garstang and wider community. He was

proud to serve other parishes as well as Garstang where he was

also Rural Area Dean.

His funeral service will be held at the Parish Church of St. Helen’s

Churchtown on Tuesday 21st September at 11.00am, followed

with interment in the churchyard.

As a mark of respect for Canon Ron and his service to Garstang

and the surrounding community, his official cortege will travel

through Garstang and pause at St. Thomas’ Church before arriving

at his final resting place, St. Helen’s Church. This will allow all his

friends and people who knew him to pay their respects.

We will leave the Garstang Funeral Home at 10.00am and travel

to the family home. Once we have had some time there, leave

around 10.20am. We expect to pass the Cornmill Nursing Home

around 10.25am, arriving at the top of the High Street at 10.30am.

Funeral director Greg Hodgkinson will lead the cortege and walk

down the High Street, going right at The Royal Oak and down onto

Church Street, pausing for a few moments at St. Thomas’ Church at

about 10.40am. Before we finally arrive at St. Helen’s Church at 10.50am.

For those unable to attend the service in church, the funeral will be

live streamed via a webcast. Please click on the link below, follow the
