In Loving Memory

Dr. CLAIRE PEARL HOWELL 1990-2023

Claire passed away peacefully on

21stDecember after a long battle with illness,

aged 33 years.

Growing up in Garstang, Claire attended

St Thomas’ Primary School, Garstang High

School and Lancaster Girls Grammar School

before going on to study Geoscience at

Keele University.  On graduation she went

on to Strathclyde University in Glasgow

and continued her studies obtaining a

PhD in Civil Engineering becoming Dr Claire.

Claire moved to Somerset in 2017 where she

put her studies into action working as a

professional geotechnical engineer on a

wide variety of projects including the new

nuclear power station at Hinckley Point.

She returned to Garstang 18 months ago

following her diagnosis and continued her

treatment at The Christie Hospital in

Manchester.  Despite her brave fight it

was unfortunately a battle she could not win.

She passed away peacefully at the

Royal Preston Hospital surrounded by her family.

Claire’s funeral service will be held at

St. Thomas’ Church on Friday 12th January

at 12noon, before being laid to

rest in the churchyard.
